JTBC’s weekend drama “Welcome to Samdal-ri” (written by Kwon Hye Joo, directed by Cha Young Hoon) has been garnering a lot of attention from viewers for its romance that is easy to watch and laugh at.
As the anticipation grows each week, here are three reasons why you should tune in to Samdalee this weekend.
1. Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun’s Pristine Romance Is About To Get Even Deeper
The budding romance between Cho Young-Pil (Ji Chang Wook) and Cho Sam-Dal (Shin Hye Sun) is ripe for the picking.
They are destined to be a match made in heaven, and the feelings they have built up over 30 years of being together are not shallow enough to fade away after only eight years apart.
As if to prove this point, Yong-pil and Sam-dal, the “ex-lovers,” are lost in a whirlwind of emotions after meeting for the first time in a long time.
Yong-pil is upset that Sam-dal has a boyfriend, Chun Chung-ki (Han Eun-sung), who puts his own well-being first, and Sam-dal can’t bear to tell Yong-pil that Chung-ki is her ex-boyfriend who cheated on her.
However, Yong-pil, who has always stood by her side and shown her warmth, has brought back all the feelings from the past that she has been trying to bury.
In the midst of all these emotions, the history of the couple that goes back and forth between hot and cold is being drawn, and the production team’s message that “the pure mate romance of the two will be deepened” is increasing the desire to watch it to the maximum.
2. We are one! The strong friendship in ‘The Five Eagle Brothers’
The strong friendship between the Five Eagle Brothers, Cho Sam-dal, Wang Kyung-tae (Lee Jae-won), Cha Eun-woo (Bae Myung-jin), and Sang-do (Kang Young-seok), is also a point to note.
Now that they have reunited after eight years, it is expected that they will continue to strengthen their friendship and stir up Sam-dal like they did when they were young and roamed the neighbourhood together.
And the police box scene in the preview for episode 5 turns this prediction into an expectation.
Ahn Ji-gi (Kim Dae-gon), a top photographer in Seoul who has been relentlessly prying into Sam-dal’s behaviour, and continues to add fuel to her controversy by publishing a follow-up article with his own twists, shows up in Samdal-ri in today’s episode (16th).
His persistence increases the tension as he seems unwilling to let go of her tail once it’s caught, but the presence of the ‘five eagle brothers’ who assist the boss, Sam-dal, offsets the worry.
Yong-pil, Kyung-tae, Eun-woo, and Sang-do, whose love for Sam-dal is evident, will not stand idly by and let anyone bully her. This is their chance to stick together and show the power of friendship.
3. Shin Hye-sun, the coward, takes action
Above all, the fact that Sam-dal, who has been hiding from the controversy, will start to take action in earnest is the biggest point of interest in the fifth and sixth episodes.
Sam-dal, who was at the peak of her career as a top photographer in Seoul, was brought down to earth by a ruckus caused by her first assistant Bang Eun-joo (Jo Yoon-seo).
On that day, when she found out that her boyfriend Chun Chung-ki (Han Eun-sung) was having an affair with Eun-joo, Eun-joo recorded her words and cleverly spliced them together, lending credence to her claim that she was a “photographer who bullied her juniors”.
The unexpected controversy engulfed Sam-dal, but there was something else that bothered her.
She wondered if her words had amplified Eun-joo’s feelings that night, causing her to try something she shouldn’t have.
She asks Eun-joo about it, but gets only a “I don’t know” in response.
But this hasn’t stopped Sam-dal from making her move.
This week’s episode, the viewers will see Sam-dal finally take action.
