The Romance Between Time Travellers Ryeoun and Seol In Ah Is Developing In “Twinkling Watermelon”

In tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Twinkling Watermelon” (written by Jin Soo Wan, directed by Son Jung Hyun), time travellers Eun Gyeol (played by Ryeoun) and Eun Yu (played by Seol In Ah), who fell in love in 1995, have gone from bickering with each other to making each other’s youth shine.

The relationship between Eun Gyeol and Eun Yu has been unusual since their first meeting.

Eun Gyeol mistook Eun Yu, who time slipped to 1995, for her mother, Se Kyung (Seol In Ah), and started asking her “why are you here?”.

Eun Gyeol felt something was amiss with Eun Yu’s behaviour as she was the exact opposite of Se Kyung. While Se Kyung had put up an iron wall around Yi Chan (played by Choi Hyun Wook), Eun Yu was unafraid to approach him and show her friendliness.
This hints at Eun Yu’s plan, as she firmly believes that her mother’s first love in 1995 was Yi Chan. This is because she believes that if her mother were to be with her first love, she would not be born.

Eun Gyeol, on the other hand, wants his father Yi Chan to be with her mother, Cheong Ah (played by Shin Eun Soo) in 1995 in order to come into the world.

As such, he tried to stop Eun Yu from getting close to Yi Chan and formed a love triangle by publicly confessing that he “likes Choi Se Kyung,” much to his father’s amusement.

Eun Gyeol makes a pact with Yi Chan to keep things fair and not see Se Kyung until the festival, but this is challenged when Eun Yu returns to school. Eun Yu catches him avoiding her and smiles smugly, “The ball’s in my court,” making her even more suspicious.

With a sense of urgency, Eun Gyeol tries to use his charms to get have Yi Chan and Cheong Ah have somesome time alone and also trying to win the heart of Se Kyung.

His blunt but heartfelt words and song stirred the heart of Eun Woo, who was pretending to be Se Kyung, and the lips of the two youths met as they moved closer to each other.

Whether in 2023 or 1995, Eun Gyeol, who had spent his youth caring only about his family, met Eun Yu for the first time and followed his heart like a normal 18-year-old.

Thanks to Eun Gyeol, Eun Yu was also finding happiness in her dull life. Eun Gyeol stood by Eun Yu’s side as she had dangerous thoughts about her cello trauma and comforted her by reminding her of the world he saw in 2023.

Eun Gyeol’s heartfelt words brightened her darkened heart, and she was able to smile once again. Sitting next to each other, the bright smiles of the two youths created a sense of excitement.

In this way, Eun Gyeol and Eun Yu portray a scene of youth shining brightly when they meet each other. Especially in the last few episodes, the Master’s (played by Jung Sang Hoon) voice saying that he sent the perfect helper for Eun Gyeol was followed by Eun Yu’s face, leading to speculation that Eun Yu might be Eun Gyeol’s helper. We are curious to see how the relationship between Eun Gyeol and Eun Yu will develop and when the two time travellers will recognise each other.

“Twinkling Watermelon” airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8.50pm.
