Bona and Yook Sunjae will be starring in a new K-drama.
According to a Korean news media outlet, Bona and Yook Sungjae were cast together in the new drama “Gwigoong.”
“Gwigoong ” tells the story of an eight-headed demon who holds a grudge against the king, a maiden who fights against him, and Imugi Gang Cheol-Yi.
It is a fantasy historical drama that, also includes melodrama and consists of 16 episodes in total.
Bona plays Manshin’s one and only granddaughter, a psychic who is expected to become a great shaman.
Yook Sungjae plays Gyu Jang-gak, a swordsman from Seo-er and a man who is possessed by the evil god Imugi Gang Cheol-Yi.
The K-drama is directed by Yoon Sung-Shik, who has directed dramas such as “The King’s Face,” “The Bridal Mask,” ” Mr. Queen,” “Hwarang,” “Tower of Babel,” and “Oasis.”
The script will be written by Yoon Soo-Jung, who previously collaborated with Yoon on “The King’s Face.”
Bona, a member of the group WJSN, started her career in the drama “Hit the Top” and went on to appear in “Girls’ Generation 1979,” “Your House Helper” “Twenty-Five Twenty-One,” “Joseon Attorney: A Morality,” “Pyramid Game,” and more.
BtoB member Yook Sungjae has been recognized for his stable acting skills through his roles in the dramas “Who Are You: School 2015,” “Goblin,” “Mystic Pop-Up Bar,” and “The Golden Spoon.”
In the K-drama, Bona and Yoo Sungjae will be portraying each other’s first love since childhood.
Expectations are high for the chemistry between the two actors, who are the same age as each other, born in 1995.
Meanwhile, “Gwigoong” is scheduled to air on SBS in 2025.
