Disney+ original series “Vigilante” (director Choi Jung Yeol) released character stills of Kim Ji Yong (played by Nam Joo Hyuk) on the 18th. It captures his double life as a police academy student during the day and as a vigilante at night.
“Vigilante” is an action thriller that pits Kim Ji Yong, a model police student who upholds the law by day, against the people who surround him as a vigilante who judges criminals who have escaped the law by night. Nam Joo Hyuk plays Kim Ji Yong, an exemplary police student and vigilante.
His mother was beaten to death by a neighbourhood thug as a child, and he decides to bring the thug to justice after he is released from prison. From that day forward, Kim Ji Yong judges criminals who have escaped the law and creates his own version of justice.

Nam Joo Hyuk will lead the drama playing the role of a perfect student at the police academy during the day, with his martial arts, studies, and daily routine, but at night he is a cold and calculating vigilante.
Nam Joo Hyuk, who is working on a project with action genre for the first time with “Vigilante”, spared no effort to make the action realistic and authentic by training in weight training, boxing, judo, and martial arts.

When he plays Kim Ji Yong, a police student, he portrays a college student who is no different from other people in their 20s, and when he plays Vigilante, he wears a hoodie and deeply expresses the inner life of a darker character with a delicate and detailed performance.

Nam Joo Hyuk’s performance, which strives to bring to life a character with complex emotions, is expected to add to the fun of the drama.
“I loved the webtoon “Vigilante,” and I really wanted to play the role of Kim Ji Yong, so I chose it,” says Nam Joo Hyuk, revealing his love for the original work and what made him choose the korean drama.

“It’s my first action project, so we talked a lot about the details with the martial arts team. I think the feeling of wearing a police uniform and wearing Vigilante clothes was very different. When I was working as a Vigilante, it was darker and more serious. I tried to take it inward rather than expressing my emotions outwardly,” he said, revealing how he struggled to capture Kim Ji Yong’s multi-layered character.
Choi Jeong Yeol, who directed “Vigilante,” said, “For the main character, Kim Ji Yong, I wanted an actor who could express the boundary between good and evil, with sparkling eyes and sadness in them, and Nam Joo Hyuk did it very well. There were many moments when I admired him,” he said, expressing his satisfaction with Nam Joo Hyuk’s casting.
