Korean drama “My Demon” exploded onto the scene with a fantasy romantic comedy. Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang’s surreal chemistry and hilarious back and forth were perfect, adding excitement and conviction to the original world of a sweet but deadly ‘soul-bonding’ romance with a demon.
The relationship between Do Do Hee, a “devil-may-care” chaebol heiress who “growls” when they meet, but reaches out to each other in times of crisis, and Jung Goo Won, an “incapacitated devil,” was giddy with excitement. We can’t wait to see how their relationship, which started as a “love affair,” will lead to a contract marriage.
Viewer reactions also exploded. On the 28th, KinoLights, an OTT integrated search and content recommendation platform, ranked the drama No. 1 in its content aggregation ranking.
Netflix and Wave also took the top spots in their respective rankings, proving their popularity. In addition, according to the results released by FUNdex, the official platform of Good Data Corporation, ‘My Demon’ also showed its strength in the TV drama category for the fourth week of November, ranking second in terms of buzz.
In the meantime, the unreleased cut of the drama is eye-catching as it shows the timeline of Do Do Hee and Goo Won’s sweet first meeting.
After a mistake by the couple’s manager, Do Do Hee goes to the wrong place and is mistaken for Goo Won. Do Hee, whose charm is not lost on anyone, is baffled by Goo Won’s laid-back and arrogant attitude, saying that she has never experienced anything like this before.
Goo Won, who was planning to retrieve the contractor’s soul and enjoy the sweet time, was also unhappy with Do Do Hee’s sudden ambush.
Do Do Hee, who seems to have nothing to fear in the world, lives in a world where she doesn’t know who is an enemy and who is an ally.
Do Hee is in crisis as the war for the successor to Chairman Joo Cheon Sook (Kim Hae Sook) begins. When she receives a death threat, it is Goo Won, a demon looking for a desperate contractor, who comes to her rescue.
Goo Won is a demon who exists to make contracts with humans, and in return, he lives a perfect eternal life. The contract is for ten years, and the condition is a ‘soul pledge’.
To escape the crisis, Do Hee is forced to take the hand of Goo Won. With enemies on all sides, the fateful reunion between the two people raises the heart rate as they wonder whether the devil will be their saviour or their destroyer.
The moment Do Hee held his hand, something unexpected happened to him. He lost his powers for a moment. He was shocked to find that his symbol, a cross tattoo, had been transferred to Do Do Hee.
The fact that his powers could only be activated by holding Do Do Hee’s wrist confused him even more. The ending with the eye contact in the mysterious spray of water that caused a huge wave was the best scene of episode 1.
In order to regain his powers, Goo Won approached Do Hee by doing what he does best: possessing humans. When she was caught off guard, Goo Won jumped into the water with his arms around her. He tried to recreate the same situation as the day the cross tattoo was transferred, but the cross tattoo did not return.
Do Do Hee’s tears, an outburst of emotions she had been holding back in the face of the ongoing crisis, shook Goo Won’s heart. He then saves Do Do Hee from an attack once again.
‘This man came crashing into my precarious life. My salvation, who is stranger and more suspicious than anyone else,’ Do Do Hee’s narration gave us extreme excitement in anticipation of the upcoming episodes.
The producers of ‘My Demon’ said, “In the 3rd and 4th episodes this week, the relationship between Do Do Hee and Goo Won will reach a turning point. Please look forward to what changes will happen to Do Do Hee, who is in crisis, and Goo Woo, who stands by her side.”
Episode 3 of SBS’s “My Demon” will air on 1 December at 10pm.
