‘12.12: The Day’ reached the 12 million mark on New Year’s Day 2024.
According to the distributor of the film “12.12: The Day” (director Kim Sung-soo), the cumulative audience for the film exceeded 12 million on 1 January.
This is a record set 41 days after its release on 22 November, and surpasses “Train To Busan” (11.56 million), “The Attorney” (11.37 million), “Tidal Wave” (11.32 million), and “Avengers: Infinity War” (11.33 million) among the films to cross 10 million viewers of all time.
It could soon surpass “Taxi Driver” (12.18 million).
It will be interesting to see how far the film’s long-running box office trend will continue.
Meanwhile, “12.12: The Day” depicts the nine hours of the uprising against the new military government in the capital, Seoul, on 12 December 1979.
