Kim Tae Ri and Hong Kyung to Voice Lead Characters in Netflix’s First Korean Animated Film “Lost in Starlight”

Netflix is producing its first animated movie in South Korea.

Netflix announced today that it has cast actors Kim Tae-ri and Hong-kyung to voice the characters in “Lost In Starlight,” the company’s first animated film in South Korea.

The film tells the story of the world’s most distant long-distance romance between astronaut Nan-young and musician Jay. Actress Kim Tae-ri will make her first voice acting debut as Nan-young, who dreams of becoming an astronaut, while Hong Kyung will voice Jay, a musician who falls in love with Nan-young.

Jay is a musician who repairs retro sound equipment, and after a chance meeting with Nan-young, they are reunited by fate through a turntable that belonged to her mother, and their love blossoms. The two actors will participate in pre-recording and live-action filming to incorporate their character interpretations of Nan-young and Jay into the animation process to create richer and more realistic emotions.

Han Ji-won, who wrote and directed the film, quickly rose to prominence in the Korean animation scene with the theatrical release of her first short, “Kopi Luwak,” while still a student at Korea National University of Arts. Since then, she has created a new style of animation that has never been seen before in Korea, including “Clearer Than You Think,” “Recipe for My Daughter,” “Asiana-Hoppy Lager,” “That Summer,” and many brand commercials and short and medium-length animations.

The animated movie “Lost In Starlight” will be available on Netflix at a later date and will thrill you with the love and dreams of two young people who will have the most distant long-distance romance on earth, in space, and in the world.
