‘Chief Detective 1958’ kicks off a new legend.

On the 4th, MBC’s new Friday Korean drama “Chief Detective 1958” released a trailer that heralds the spectacular revival of the legendary Korean drama.

Expectations are high for the hot performances of detectives armed with strong personalities and a firm sense of justice.

“Chief Detective 1958” is a prequel to “Chief Detective,” which wrote the history of Korean investigative dramas, and is set in 1958 when Detective Park Young-han (played by Lee Je-hoon) is assigned to Seoul.

In an age of barbarism, Detective Park Young-han, who specialises in catching thieves, teams up with three unique colleagues to become a detective for the people by breaking the unconventional rules of corrupt power with common sense.

Their investigation, which moves between analogue and retro, is both romantic and hilarious, providing a different catharsis for the younger generation and a touching experience for those who remember ‘Chief Park’.

The trailer begins with an imposing self-introduction by Park Young-han, a detective who has just moved to Seoul from Hwangcheon.

He’s the “No. 1 thief catcher in Gyeonggi-do,” and he’s a passionate detective as he chases criminals through gambling halls, marketplaces, and dirt floors.

But investigating in Seoul in 1958, a city on the cusp of a dark age, isn’t easy.

From murders to car explosions, guns to bare-knuckle battles with evil men, Park and his colleagues are frustrated, enraged, and moved to tears.

Nevertheless, Park Young-han’s determination to “protect the weak and beat the bad guys” makes us look forward to his exhilarating performance.

The phrase “Legendary detectives, they’re back,” set to the heart-pumping signature music of “Chief of Investigation,” only adds to the excitement of how the fantastic team of Park Young-han, Kim Sang-soon (Lee Dong-hwi), Choi Kyung-hwan (Choi Woo-sung), and Seo Ho-jung (Yoon Hyun-soo) will break the barbaric era with their extraordinary teamwork.

Lee Je-hoon breaks new ground as the younger version of the legendary Chief Inspector Park.

An impregnable detective who believes in cause-and-effect, he fights tooth and nail against the trampling of human dignity.

Lee Dong-hwi plays Kim Sang-soon, a “mad dog” of the Jongnam Police Station who is doomed if he gets caught.

He’s a “My Way” detective with nothing but grit and venom, and just when he’s getting tired of his corruption-ridden life, he meets a different kind of detective, Park Young-han, who turns his life around.

Acting newcomer Choi Woo-sung plays ‘Choi Kyung-hwan’, an ace young man with an unusually extraordinary strength, who later becomes ‘Bulgom Forearm’ of the Jongnam Police Station.

Rising actor Yoon Hyun-soo plays ‘Seo Ho-jung’, an elite member of Gospec who dreams of becoming a master investigator and later becomes ‘Jegalbum’ of the Jongnam Police Station.

MBC’s new Korean drama ‘Chief Detective 1958’ is scheduled to air in 2024.
